Q&A
What equipment is needed? Players will need a glove, cleats and a batting helmet with a face guard. It is possible there will be bats to share but we encourage all players to have a bat and strongly encourage obtaining and always using a game face while on defense. The league will provide game jerseys, parents will need to provide pants and socks based upon colors chosen by the coach.
How much is the registration fee? $100 per player, the City of Murfreesboro also charges a $10 per player usage fee. Please note Murfreesboro Softball League has a no refund policy.
When does registration begin? Registration for spring will begin mid December of the previous year through February. Registration for fall will begin in mid June through July. Please note space is limited, we encourage early registration when at all possible.
What is the age cutoff? Player age is determined by their age on January 1st of the year of play.
Are discounts available? We offer a $10 sibling discount per player with 3 or more siblings. We want all interested players regardless of financial situation to be able to participate, we are able to provide contact info for scholarships available through Dicks Sporting Goods, funds are limited so please do not delay. Can I get a refund? During active registration we will honor refunds. Once teams have been assigned and jerseys and equipment have been ordered we have a no refund policy.
Does Murfreesboro Softball League provide coverage for injury? No, there is no health or injury type coverage provided.
Are beginners welcome? Yes!! MSL is an excellent instructional league for players of all skill levels. We do suggest all new players ages 4-6 first play at least one season of tball and strongly suggest all players age 10 and over first play at least one season of slow pitch.
Following registration, what's next? Please visit our Important Dates tab! At the conclusion of registration we will hold New Player Evaluations for all new players to the league with the exception of new tball players ages 4-6. Coaches will receive team rosters on draft night, they will then begin contacting players, please allow a few days following the draft for contact before contacting the commissioner of your division. Coaches will provide practice times and additional info.
How often do teams practice? Weather permitting the practice season will be approximately 4 weeks, teams will practice twice per with an average practice length of 1 hour. Practice can be held any day of the week but most will be held on weeknights. Most practices will be held at McKnight Park but some may be held offsite.
Does practice continue once games begin? Coaches may schedule practice as needed once games begin but most discontinue the twice per week practice and utilize the time during pre-game warm up for practice.
How often are games held? Each team will play twice per week, all games are held at McKnight Park. Games are scheduled in the evenings Monday - Friday with Wednesday typically being reserved for weather related makeup games. Game times are 5:30, 6:40 and 7:50 with early game times typically utilized for younger teams.
Is there a tournament? Weather permitting the post season tournament will be held the week following the end of regular season play.
